I joined Closet Factory in 2016 after many years of being told by family and friends that I should help others with their organizational needs. I have always been that friend or family member that comes over and gets lost in organizing and rearranging spaces. I find it very enjoyable and relaxing to be able to make a space more usable and beautiful.
Working with Closet Factory has given me the opportunity to combine my love for organization with my passion for helping others!
“My husband and I could not be more thrilled with the final product! The entire process from beginning to end was amazing and I am honestly surprised at how much I can love a closet It is perfect. And now we are more ready than ever to tackle the laundry room! I will definitely want you to help with that process!”
“How do you first approach a space? In other words, what’s the first thing you think about when you first see a client’s closet space/storage problem?”
When I first approach a space, I consider my clients’ lifestyle and how they function. I’m a bit of a psychologist, asking many questions to get to the real “why” for them calling us, as well as how I can improve the quality of their lifestyle. Clients are often surprised that I can really incorporate so much of their input into the design.
“What is the biggest design obstacle you’ve overcome? i.e. awkwardly angled walls, electrical sockets in bizarre places, big collections in small spaces.”
Working in oddly angled spaces is sometimes a challenge. Sloping ceilings, angled walls take a lot of ingenuity to figure out where to put everything. But the happiness on my clients’ faces when the closet is installed makes the challenge worthwhile every time!
“Since collaboration is such an integral part of the design process, how do you like to engage or connect with clients in order to help them realize their vision for a space?”
When starting the design process, it is important to start out simple and keep to the budget. (and we all have them). There is nothing more disappointing than to have the design come back and be way out of your price range. Everyone can have a beautiful and functional closet, and it is possible to keep the cost where you would like it. Start simple and add extras where and if you can and desire to do so.
“How are you inspired by a home’s existing décor? Is there anything specific that you look for during an in-home consultation?”
Sometimes the client wants to coordinate with the existing decor, sometimes they want a contrast. I look at what is currently in the space and listen to what the client has been saying. If they are wanting something different than their current style, I offer up suggestions. Or if the client has no clue what they are wanting, I like to give them ideas or examples of past projects.
“What are some ways a custom designed home office can improve productivity? In other words, how does the right type of home office help people do business?”
An organized space is not just tidy in appearance but helps with productivity and time management. An organized space won’t offer up distractions.
“What are some modern organizational trends, or what’s a trend you’re looking for?”
Clients are looking for dual purpose in the function. For example, an office space that can be used as a guest bedroom via a murphy bed.
Each of our custom closets is completely personalized and begins with a complimentary design appointment.
