For most of you parents out there, school has already started for your young ones. Of course, there are a couple of children out there who are still squeezing every last drop out of summer vacation, however, there’s never a bad time to start coming up with some organization ideas to help prepare them for the rest of the year.
You’ll notice that school supplies are being promoted and sold in stores, but what good are they if you don’t have the proper methods to store them. Luckily, there are ways to fight the frantic preparations that come with getting ready for school, and they’re all really simple, intuitive, and transformative!
For starters, school supplies always end up in random places and it becomes frustrating to hear that your child lost something even though you know that you bought enough. Why not eliminate that calamity with a shoe organizer that can go on a room door? Each pocket can house multiple of a box of crayons, glue sticks, or scissors. Having a go-to area for school essentials saves more time than you think.
If you have little munchkins who know how to get dressed on their own but don’t really care what they wear, then the following idea is perfect for you. Create circular daily closet rod dividers that organize pre-coordinated outfits for your child. They can easily hop out of bed, wash up, and get dressed in the morning with little-to-no help from you.
This one is a little craft project that can become a very useful desk accessory for young children who work with crayons, markers, and scissors often. Start by emptying out some soup cans and then wrapping them with colored or construction paper. Hot glue them together into a pyramid like shown and now your children have a fully functional stationery organizer.
For those of you with multiple young children, it’s important to give each child with the same amount of attention. A simple way to get a hand in each child’s academics is by creating an inexpensive “mudroom” or launch pad of sorts. Hooks like the ones shown above as well as cork boards can be purchased rather inexpensively. Label each board with the child’s name and designate it as an area where they can keep track of what they need to do or what they want you to look at. With this system, no child will feel as if he or she is being neglected when it comes to academics.
