MY ADVICE:

• After your closet is installed before you put your clothes away, rub all your hanging rods with wax paper. This will leave a wax residue on the rods and make the hangers slide beautifully. Periodically do this and it will remove all the black residue the hangers leave.

• If you have tons of shoes and little space, use double-deep shoe shelves. You can store twice as many in the same space. Place shoes in vertically with one of each pair in front.

• Consider painting your closet a cool contrast color to give it your personal sense of style.

MY FAQ’s:

 “How do you first approach a space? In other words, what’s the first thing you think about when you first see a client’s closet space/storage problem?”

My first consider is always: “What are the client’s needs, inventory, and specific design requests?” Next, “What is the space, and how can we best utilize the space to fulfill the client’s needs?”

 “What is the biggest design obstacle you’ve overcome? i.e. awkwardly angled walls, electrical sockets in bizarre places, big collections in small spaces.”

There are so many to think about over the last 20 years. In general, for many clients, it is too much inventory to fit into the space being designed.

 “Since collaboration is such an integral part of the design process, how do you like to engage or connect with clients in order to help them realize their vision for a space?”

I always discuss the client’s needs and budget options. I like to lay out the space together to get an idea of how they want to be able to store their things. Then I like to create beautiful 3D renders on the computer to help clients visualize their dreams.

 “How are you inspired by a home’s existing décor? Is there anything specific that you look for during an in-home consultation?”

Once of the first questions is, “Do you want your closet to have the same feeling as your home, or are you looking for something different, simpler or just organization?”

 “What are some ways a custom designed home office can improve productivity? In other words, how does the right type of home office help people do business?”

Having a workspace that helps keep you organized so that you can find what you need quickly and is comfortable will make your work go faster and make working a more enjoyable experience.

 “What are some modern organizational trends, or what’s a trend you’re looking for?”

Trays versus drawers are a cool solution for someone who wants to find what they need quickly. They can be a unique addition with fun design options and replace the space that drawers take up.
