As a Senior Designer with Closet Factory, I bring 20+ years experience in the design/home improvement arena. My aim is to focus on your unique storage needs. I promise to listen to your desires and provide a completely custom storage solution that fits your style, space and budget. From start to finish I provide my clients with excellent customer service and a product that they will love! What I love the most is hearing from my clients after an install about how much of an impact my design has made on their lives in whatever space we work on.
“I hired Debbie Mauro the first time because she was available and willing to drive to my house at the time of day I needed her. She was flexible. She arrived precisely on time, fully prepared. She listened to my needs and wishes and then advised me as to my options. She was professional to the core and yet warm and wise. I hired Debbie Mauro the second and third time because I simply wouldn’t go to anyone else, ever. It is far too rare today to find someone who knows their business inside and out and yet listens and understands.”

“How do you first approach a space? In other words, what’s the first thing you think about when you first see a client’s closet space/storage problem?”
My first questions are “How do you use this space and what about it isn’t working for you?”
“What is the biggest design obstacle you’ve overcome? i.e. awkwardly angled walls, electrical sockets in bizarre places, big collections in small spaces.”
The biggest challenges seem to be multi purpose rooms. I worked with a client who is a professional seamstress and need an office/sewing room in her basement. We needed different height counters for computers, sewing machines and a stand up work space for cutting. Taking the time to make sure all of the spaces allow her to do what she needs to is what made her a return client!
“Since collaboration is such an integral part of the design process, how do you like to engage or connect with clients in order to help them realize their vision for a space?”
I get my clients involved with the design process by asking lots of questions. The more I know about them, the easier it is for me to design a space that fits them. Pictures are always a great help for design style.
“How are you inspired by a home’s existing décor? Is there anything specific that you look for during an in-home consultation?”
Ideally if the space we’re working on can look like it was built with the rest of the house rather than stand out then that’s a win, but not everyone wants their closet to look like the cabinets in the kitchen or bathroom. My clients are always in the driver’s seat.
“What are some ways a custom designed home office can improve productivity? In other words, how does the right type of home office help people do business?”
Offices are one of the most brain taxing spaces to work on and can be the most rewarding. It’s one thing to say my shoes are all together in the same space and a totally different level of satisfaction when a client says that you’ve increased their productivity because they have everything they need at their fingertips.
“What are some modern organizational trends, or what’s a trend you’re looking for?”
Right now the textured melamines are very popular as are grays and whites.
Each of our custom offices is completely personalized and begins with a complimentary design appointment.
