I have been with Closet Factory for over 7 years and truly LOVE what I do. My official title is Business Development Specialist; however, I am also an Advanced Designer. I have a hand in several aspects of the business; I’ve done everything from answering the phones and purchasing to designing and project management. This has enabled me to fully understand what projects go through from start to finish, and even after completion. I remain very active in the industry as a member of the Home Builders Association, a steering committee member of the Professional Women in Building Council, and a member of the American Society of Interior Designers. I have always been fascinated with interior design and everything that goes into creating a room or space of your dreams, no matter how big or small. I love to go the extra mile with my clients and really help design the entire room; whether that means helping them select paint colors or making suggestions on furniture placement, I am always thrilled when asked my opinion.
“On a curiosity call I contacted Closet Factory for a quote on built-ins in my dining room wall. I am an avid fan of HGTV and decided this wall would be perfect for extra storage …WELL…Cassie from Closet Factory ACED IT. I was so happy with the wall she created in the dining room that I called her back to do our family room wall. Cassie is great with her ideas and very personable. My husband had his doubts at first but loves the look and we feel her prices were fair and affordable for the look and quality of the product. The install was 1 day with all the mess cleaned up and removed and everything was exactly like the picture she gave us on the computer. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!!”

“How do you first approach a space? In other words, what’s the first thing you think about when you first see a client’s closet space/storage problem?”
I first approach a space with an open mind and a listening ear. Every space is so personal to most of my clients and I want to hear every one of their likes and dislikes before I make my suggestions; after all, I am creating a space for your needs. I also pay attention to the décor and style throughout the home so I can get an idea of each clients’ taste and I can make proper recommendations.
“What is the biggest design obstacle you’ve overcome? i.e. awkwardly angled walls, electrical sockets in bizarre places, big collections in small spaces.”
Call me crazy, but I love when I come across a project that has a large design obstacle in my way; I really feel like this is where I shine. Saint Louis is filled with character and you see it most in the older homes throughout the city. When I see a space with angled walls, electrical boxes in awkward places, or just oddly shaped walls, I know these are the people who most need my help and I can’t wait to tackle the problem and make life easier (and prettier) for them.

“Since collaboration is such an integral part of the design process, how do you like to engage or connect with clients in order to help them realize their vision for a space?”
My design process Is collaborative from start to finish. Clients share their personal taste and style with me and I encourage the use of Houzz and Pinterest for brainstorming ideas. It isn’t always easy for people to explain their thought process so pictures really help keep us on the same page. We measure and take an inventory together so we can discuss how things will be stored and what is important to incorporate into the space. I then sit down with the client and design on our software and invite the clients to sit with me and share their input. I am the professional and do this sort of thing every day so I will make suggestions on what I know will and won’t work but in the end this is something you will have to live with so I want to ensure that I am meeting all of your wants and needs.
“How are you inspired by a home’s existing décor? Is there anything specific that you look for during an in-home consultation?”
When I enter a home I do a quick scan of my surroundings to check out the décor and flow of the home. That little bit of information can go a long way when making suggestions for color, design options and layout.
“What are some ways a custom designed home office can improve productivity? In other words, how does the right type of home office help people do business?”
When everything has a place and a purpose in your home office your day runs smoother. You no longer have to search for your scissors or any other specific item; you can locate it all with ease.
“What are some modern organizational trends, or what’s a trend you’re looking for?”
I love to make each space unique and one of the ways I accomplish this is by combining different colors and/or materials. My current favorite trend is to use a solid or woodgrain color as my structure and to pick a complimentary textured color as an accent.
