This year’s Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF 40) kicked off March 30 and we’re proud to show Closet Factory Cleveland reprising its role as a Platinum Sponsor for the second year in a row!
As a Platinum Sponsor for CIFF 40, Closet Factory Cleveland lent its creativity and marketing experience to significantly upgrade the Festival’s Merchandising Store and $140,000 Challenge Match area. In addition, Closet Factory Cleveland provided cabinetry for the initial launch of Perspectives: an interactive and immersive exhibition through the use of VR (virtual reality) films and interactive media. This event is available for the public to enjoy during the last four days of the festival.
The festival kicked off with the Gala where this year’s featured film, “Good Ol’ Boy,” was screened to 1,800 people. The movie is about a 10-year-old boy named Smith from India whose parents want him to pursue the American dream. However, his journey gets off to a rough start as everything about his life that his parents envisioned for him turns out to be the complete opposite of what they expected. A character by the name of Butch (played by Jason Lee of the TV sitcom “My Name is Earl”) teaches Smith how to be what he wants to be, and that it’s not where we’re from, but where we are that makes us who we are.
The film’s director announced that the film had been picked up for theatrical release in mid-September.
Believeland is an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary which will air on ESPN May 14th. This documentary covers the heartbreak and agony that has plagued Cleveland sports teams and the torment that Cleveland sports fans have had to endure for several years. It also documents why Cleveland sports fans are so loyal to their teams, such as the Browns. The entire film weaves sports and the rich history of Cleveland to give its viewers a broad understanding of why fans believe that the championship drought will end soon.
A large turnout of 800 people attended the premier at the historic Palace Theater in Cleveland’s Playhouse Square. Closet Factory Cleveland owner and hardcore Cleveland sports fan Bob Pietrick said he especially enjoyed the after-film event where the writer and narrator of the movie, along with members of the Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers, discussed the documentary together.
