In 2024, blue is the color to pick. With the chaotic year most of us have had, choosing blue for interiors is a great opportunity for you to transform your home into a calming oasis.
Blue is a powerful color for controlling your mood. It is calming and cooling, and it works amazingly for virtually anything, from accent walls to couches and everything in between. When it comes to custom organization, blue has always been one of Closet Factory’s most popular colors, and there’s no indication that blue will ever not be trendy and popular. It pairs well with warm and cool colors, which makes it highly versatile. Blue in a bedroom can help cool you off at the end of the day while blue in an office can help keep your stress level down while you work on tough projects.
Blue works in every space of the home, including the outdoors! Blues are an excellent choice for exterior paint, especially if you live in an area where homes are exposed to a lot of harsh sunlight as blue pigments survive sun damage far better than many colors which fade over time.
This year, Benjamin Moore created a soft, mid-tone blue with touches of slate grey and lavender. This Blue Nova evokes the night sky and royal cloth, and is sure to work excellently as a primary color for a Closet Factory system or as an accent color on one wall. Blue Nova is best paired with another color, but its versatility means you are only limited by your imagination.
Closet Factory recommends using Blue Nova for cabinetry, especially in rooms without an existing accent or where any existing accent colors blend well. Blue Nova is a striking color that is expressive without being overwhelming.
Sherwin-Williams describes Upward as “the color found when we slow down, take a breath, and allow the mind to clear.” It’s a whimsical color that evokes clear sunny days and beautiful baroque and rococo style. You can almost see the wispy white clouds floating across this light and airy color. Upward works great as a primary color, being soft and open enough to not be overwhelming but still far more unique than standard neutral tones.
Closet Factory recommends using Upward for wall colors, particularly when you have a unit without backing. Having a beautiful but not surprising color on the back wall of any unit will make opening cabinets and lowering wall beds such a pleasure.
Always a stand-out in the field of pigments and truly never ones to follow a trend, Pantone has selected a wonderfully soft pastel orange-pink – precisely the color of the fine fibers that give peaches their unique texture – that is guaranteed to soften anything you choose to use it on.
Where the other colors from this year evoke feelings of coolness, calmness, or even grand feelings like the vastness of the ocean or space, Peach Fuzz is a very intimate color. Warm hugs, soft blankets, sunsets watched from the front porch. At the same time, it can be a very energetic color when used in the right context.
While an accent wall in Peach Fuzz in the bedroom might make your nights warmer, Peach Fuzz tiles in the bathroom will give your morning routine some pep while calling back to the early days of American home-ownership; those pastel halcyon days of the 1950s. Even better, use Peach Fuzz on the back wall of a murphy bed unit to give your guests a fun surprise, or have cabinet doors painted in Peach Fuzz and the rest of the cabinet in a darker color such as green or blue.
These three colors have one strong unifying theme: lightness. 2024 is the year to feel light, to let yourself feel openly, to not hold things inside.
