I love to feel that I’ve really helped another person. Who doesn’t? As a Marketing Consultant, I learned that simplifying a problem helped my client more than anything I could do. As a Designer for Closet Factory, I can focus on that part of the work I enjoy most every minute of my work day.
We all get too far into the details sometimes and then it feels like we’re standing still. It’s not exactly procrastination, but the result is we’re stuck. We need a fresh view. That’s what I love doing most! Let’s talk about what you want to see happen in your space, and make it happen. Together we can create a space that both functions for you, and you will want to photograph and share with your friends! All our work is beautiful, from the simple to the elaborate.
“This is an amazing business! Their designer can give you great options and their installation team is really good as well. I think the reason they’re so good is that they plan your closets and measure precisely so it fits when they are ready to install it. The warranty is also surprising – but they do such a good job on the initial work that they seldom need to go back.”

“How do you first approach a space? In other words, what’s the first thing you think about when you first see a client’s closet space/storage problem?”
I first ask my client questions about their storage preferences (how do they hang slacks), as well as many other unique needs. This interview process is most important in able to deliver the maximum value for their investment.
“What is the biggest design obstacle you’ve overcome? i.e. awkwardly angled walls, electrical sockets in bizarre places, big collections in small spaces.”
In a small bedroom (conversion to closet), my client needed drawers as well as complete use of wall space. The Island we designed for the drawers included a backside of shelving in order to store her handbags. By using the two sided, double height Island, and varying heights for more hanging, we maximized the space.
“Since collaboration is such an integral part of the design process, how do you like to engage or connect with clients in order to help them realize their vision for a space?”
That’s what we do first! We talk, I listen, and then I show pictures (ipad) of similar spaces, which generates ideas.
“How are you inspired by a home’s existing décor? Is there anything specific that you look for during an in-home consultation?”
I observe the space décor and narrow down options to present the most likely match to the clients taste. The clients’ personality plays into this, especially if they are moving to a new space which is now a blank canvas. We talk and I listen.
“What are some ways a custom designed home office can improve productivity? In other words, how does the right type of home office help people do business?”
So much time can be lost in movement. If a printer is far from the work space, it can expand the working time dramatically. However, most people can’t abide sitting all day at a desk. It’s best to find a way to minimize the distractions at a work space, and therefore minimize the time spent there.
“What are some modern organizational trends, or what’s a trend you’re looking for?”
I love Marie Kondo’s book “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.” This idea of being able to set things right and keep them constant is wonderful. What a reduction in stress, to know where everything goes, and to put it right back!
