Throughout my life, I have lived in seven different states – all with completely different cultures and lifestyles. Now as a Closet Factory designer in Miami, I offer a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of aesthetics to help each and every one of my clients bring their vision for their home to life.
As a child, I was always taking apart anything I could to see how it worked. Later in my teen years, I was obsessed with trying to fix things on my own, whether it was electronic, mechanical, or electrical. My mother had a Turn-key business where I had the opportunity to learn how to do some carpentry, plumbing, electrical, sheetrock, and even tile work!
My entire life has given me the opportunity to create almost anything imaginable in this industry and I love it with a passion!
“Thank you for doing a wonderful job! From designer to installers, you were great! We needed a home office for a unique space layout! Derek came up with great design options. He was extremely cooperative, supportive and a complete pleasure to work with during the entire process – from design to installation. The installers were extremely professional. They were mindful of time, noise, and cleanliness after each visit. Our office design consisted of atypical angles which required precise measurement and installation skills. They knocked it out of the park!”

“I got my master and guest room closets in my condo built out by Closet Factory, and designed by Derek Enriquez and had a wonderful experience. You could tell how much Derek truly cares about his clients and the quality of work/finished product was everything I had hoped for. Highly recommend Derek and Closet Factory!”

“Highly recommend. We worked with Derek – he showed up promptly, designed a system for us during the initial visit and a follow up that included all elements we were seeking. He even added a few nifty features we didn’t consider. They showed up to install, Derek oversaw all aspects of the project and finished a timely install – no mess, quality work. We had a drawer bottom that came loss and a latch that stuck – Derek had them addressed immediately with no issue. Hands down quality product, quality design, and workmanship. Derek is definitely a standout among his peers! Even better, being new to Miami, there was no “Miami hustle” – straightforward, honest folks that deliver what they promise, what they quoted and what we paid to receive. (Contrast that to some competitors we called that failed to show up for appointment, proposed designs nothing similar to what we wanted, etc).”

“Closet Factory comes up with functional and sleek designs. They go out of their way to make sure the customer is happy, and they do high-quality work. Derek is a great designer and was very accommodating. I would definitely recommend.”

“How do you first approach a space? In other words, what’s the first thing you think about when you first see a client’s closet space/storage problem?”
“What is the biggest design obstacle you’ve overcome? i.e. awkwardly angled walls, electrical sockets in bizarre places, big collections in small spaces.”
One of the largest design obstacles that I have encountered has been an out door Pent House patio. There were many obstacles such as electrical outlets, water spikes, electrical tubes, etc.
“Since collaboration is such an integral part of the design process, how do you like to engage or connect with clients in order to help them realize their vision for a space?”
Some clients are very visual and need a real object to imagine what their space will look like, such as a computer on the desk in an office design or paintings on a wall. I have even gone a step further to take pictures of a unique item in their space and have placed it into the actual Design Program. Also, having the ability to use the Oculus Headset (Virtual Reality) in the showroom really helps bring the design to life!
“How are you inspired by a home’s existing décor? Is there anything specific that you look for during an in-home consultation?”
“What are some ways a custom designed home office can improve productivity? In other words, how does the right type of home office help people do business?”
There are many ways to make an office a lot more productive. Depending on the type of business maybe you need more shelving in a certain area for Binders or books that you need easy access too. Maybe you need a lot of electrical outlets, USB ports, or Ethernet Jacks, that can be easily accessed and at the same time hidden with a flush mounted power station on the counter top of your desk. Let’s say you need to have the adjustability of different desk components such as paper trays, pencil holders, file hangers and different sized bins, I would recommend the Omni Track Slat wall as a back splash so you can adapt whenever you may need to. There are endless options to make a space more productive!
“What are some modern organizational trends, or what’s a trend you’re looking for?”
Some of my favorite Modern organizational trends are Automated Pull-Down Rods, which if you have very tall ceilings you are able to have 3 levels of short hang and with the touch of a button the top rod brings the clothing down for you. No need for a ladder! The Pant Rack is also another great modern advancement in organizing because they eliminated 5’’ of height off the top of traditional hangers so you can gain more space above or below that section also the convince of it sliding out. I am all about technology and different mechanisms. I personally would love to see more automated mechanisms that can be used to organize more efficiently and at the same time be as easy as pressing a button or using a phone app to do so!
