My design journey started when I began studying graphic design and web design in college. I then worked as a footwear and jewelry designer but soon found my true passion was in home décor and furniture design.
I am a designer with Closet Factory Utah and I love what I do! Every client brings in a new challenge and it is very fulfilling to collaborate and create a custom solution for their home. I strive to incorporate an artistic element into every project that I design. When I am not working as a designer, I am hanging around teaching aerial yoga and meditation classes.
MY ADVICE:
MY FAQ’s:
“How do you first approach a space? In other words, what’s the first thing you think about when you first see a client’s closet space/storage problem?”
When I first approach a client’s space, I take note of how they are currently using the space as it is. The more I understand which habits they already have and which new habits they are striving towards, I can better design a space that fits their natural needs and one that also helps them achieve their goals. I want each organizational system that I design to be custom to what works for the client.
“Since collaboration is such an integral part of the design process, how do you like to engage or connect with clients in order to help them realize their vision for a space?”
When meeting and collaborating with a client I like to ask what their dream space would look like and I ask them to describe the feeling that they get when imagining their new space. That way, I am focusing more on the positive than the negative. Of course, I will ask what they would like to change about the space but mostly working towards getting them excited about what we can create together.
“How are you inspired by a home’s existing décor? Is there anything specific that you look for during an in-home consultation?”
When taking inspiration from a client’s already existing décor, I first look at the color scheme they already have going on. Taking note of cool tones versus warmer tones. Then I take a look at the overall style, if it is more classic or modern or anything in between. I find that a client is impressed when you mention that you’ve already taken note of their style, showing them that you truly are building a system completely custom to them.
“What are some ways a custom designed home office can improve productivity? In other words, how does the right type of home office help people do business?”
A custom designed home office will eliminate any wasted space, making full use of corners and walls. When shopping for a home office set up, it is very unlikely that you will find a piece or system that fits perfectly in the space you’ve got and/or fits the equipment and inventory that you have. We can build a custom unit that fits your exact printer size, your exact computer size and the exact amount of space you need for files and books. You decide how many shelves you want, how many drawers you want and how much desk space you need. By maximizing the amount of working space, we create a highly efficient system that will increase your productivity.
“What are some modern organizational trends, or what’s a trend you’re looking for?”
A trend that I have seen a lot of lately is a minimalistic approach to design; Clean simple lines and cool tones. Closet Factory’s Finesse system is right on trend with this style. I am really looking forward to using this new concept in my designs where it works for my clients.
