Five Steps To The Perfect Summer Closet
Summer is a great season for spending time with your family, enjoying weekend barbecues, and taking long walks in the late afternoon. It’s enough to make you feel positively lazy! However, there are some things that should be placed on your “To Do List” that can benefit you throughout the entire year. One of those things is to spend some time organizing your summer closet.
Actually, summer is a great time to spend a few hours in your closet, sorting through your clothing to keep the clutter from getting the upper hand.
Actually, summer is a great time to spend a few hours in your closet, sorting through your clothing to keep the clutter from getting the upper hand. To make the transition from spring to summer, follow these five simple steps to getting your closet in tip top shape for the long days of summer:
Get Rid Of Unwanted Items:
First of all, go through all your winter clothes and place them in some kind of storage container. Make sure you label the exterior of each container with a list of its contents for quick access later on. Also, this is a great time to do a quick check of each item. If you didn’t wear it during winter or it doesn’t fit, it’s ripped or you just don’t like it any more, then get rid of it. Either donate it, sell it or hand it down.
Wash Winter Clothing Before You Placing Them In Storage:
Before you put away your winter clothes, it’s always a good idea to wash them before they go into a storage box. That way, everything will be ready to wear when you retrieve it next season. It’s a little extra work, but believe it or not, you will be really happy you went to extra effort.
Perform A Quick Inventory On Your Summer Clothing:
Once your winter clothes are set aside, pull out your summer wardrobe. Don’t forget to include sandals, shoes and beach bags, and other accessories. Just like with your winter clothing, examine your summer clothing to determine which items you want to keep, and which ones you want to donate.
Prep your closet for your summer wardrobe:
Before putting your summer clothes inside your closet, do yourself a favor and vacuum the inside and wipe down the walls or even ceiling to that it’s ready for your summer wardrobe.
Sort Clothing by Purpose:
A great way to sort your clothing for seasons is to think function. That is, sort your clothing by purpose. For example, exercise clothing, sports garments, swim wear, camping or gardening clothes and so on. Then, organize your clothes by color within each category. Try to leave a little distance between sections and colors as your place the clothing back inside the closet.
Now that you have your summer wardrobe organized and sorted, you will be able to have more time to enjoy the longer days and shorter nights.
