Add A Bit Of Spring To Your Home Office
Seasonal changes inspire new décor in spaces such as our living room, kitchen, or bedroom. Decorating our workspaces, however, can be bit more difficult, because we have to keep the aesthetics at an appropriate level. On the flip side, if it’s our own personal workspace at home, we are free to exercise our creative freedom.
Since it’s spring, now’s the perfect time to infuse a bit of freshness into our home offices. Here’s how you can do just that.
Add desk plants
Nothing represents the season of spring better than the growth of Mother Nature’s children. Plants add a refreshing aura to any desk and help get your brain pumping with their oxygen. For a fun DIY look, add some plants to a Mason jar filled with some water.
Hang up motivational message picture frames
If you’re struggling with staying productive at home, sometimes all it takes is a simple message to take care of that issue. Motivational posters and frames in the office have the power to pick you up when you think you’re done. The twist is, make sure the print inside the frame is a pastel color such as pink or light blue. Remember, spring fever is the theme we’re shooting for.
Light up some aromatic candles
It’s been proven time and time again that certain smells such as pine and peppermint can help with your concentration and stress. In addition, lit candles are ideal for an outdoor spring gathering in the late evenings. Luckily, there are aromatic candles that incorporate both. These fragrance-emitting candles can keep you happy and engaged while providing a comfortable relaxing atmosphere for you to work in.
Set up a wooden tablet/phone stand
Technology and spring are two words that don’t really get put in the same sentence, but in this case, we can. If your work requires heavy use of a tablet or phone, a stand can be perfect for you. In order to bring out that spring feel, make it a wooden stand. They are relatively cheap and further supplement the rejuvenating feeling of the season.
Get rid of as much white as you can
White is a typical color you see in any office, and although it’s clean and represents purity, it can be quite boring. Be bold and cover up as much white as you can, whether it’s with posters, wall-units, or, if you’re so inclined, painted walls. Go for bright and energizing colors such as pastoral green and goldenrod as they will have a direct positive effect on our emotions and moods by increasing our secretion of serotonin, the happiness hormone.
Add some books to shelves
You don’t even have to necessarily have to read them! Books can invoke the image of reading outdoors on a sunny spring day. The trick here is to not line up our books like we would at a library, but to instead set them up in a haphazard way for a more natural look. Like we said, you don’t have to read them – but why not make it look like you do? Give yourself a placebo mind boost!
Above all, make sure you focus on the fact that spring is a very natural part of life and brings growth. With that mantra in mind, you can create your own personal work-garden that you can grow in!
