Ft. Lauderdale Does Custom Right

When President and CEO Stephen Newman opened the doors of his closet organization company in 1997, he had no idea how appreciative customers would be of the organization service he offers. “We get phone calls all the time that say ‘you’ve changed my world’ or ‘created more time in my life,’” he says.

Located at 1650 S. Powerline Road in Deerfield Beach, these “masters of design,” do not stop with closets. Their 15 designers organize the most challenging spaces including garages, home offices, wall units, entertainment centers, pantries and even kid’s closets.

Newman says one woman wanted her garage organized in eight hours. The only problem was that it was a three-day job … it was a birthday present for her husband. Undaunted, Closet Factory sent out three crews who completed the job in one day, and when her husband arrived home that evening, he was stunned and very happy.

From start to finish, Closet Factory is unique. For starters, everything is custom made. “We’re not selling widgets, and we’re not a standardized solution … from simple to spectacular, we make the space work for our customers,” Newman says. The first step in the organization process is for a well-trained designer to visit the site and spend two or three hours talking to customers about their needs. There is no charge for this service.

Appropriate spaces are designed to meet each customer’s unique lifestyle. For example, a woman who owns ball gowns will need space to hang them, and a man who wears size 12 shoes will need a larger shelf than typical to store them. Once the customer accepts the design, upgrades to the closets such as decorative knobs or crown and base moulding can be added. Closets are always designed to complement the home’s décor.
