How long is the initial appointment?
A consultation with a Designer lasts usually 1 to 2 hours. During that time the Design Consultant will show you all of our products, photographs of work that we have done and samples of the materials and finishes. The Design Consultant will take a complete inventory of the items you want to store in that area and, working with you, design the perfect closet system to meet your needs and budgetary requirements.
How long after the appointment can we get an installation date?
The average time is 10 days to 2 weeks. Sometimes it is longer if the project is more complex or if finishing is required. However, if you are having a “closet crisis” and need to have it done immediately, we will do our best to install it sooner.
How long will it take to install my system?
The average closet organizer system can be installed in one day. Larger orders may take longer. Our Installers are thoroughly trained and courteous. When done, the unit will be clean and ready to use.
May I email or fax my designs to get a price quote?
Yes, you can email or fax your designs and we’ll give you a quote. However, it may be better if we send a Design Consultant to your home to check your design and offer suggestions that may improve it. This visit is without fee or obligation.
May I pay for my closet system by credit card?
We accept all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. You may also pay by personal check, cash or debt card.
How is a wall-mounted system different to a floor based closet system? Is it less money?
Closet Factory specializes in floor based closet systems. From a design standpoint there are some limitations to wall-hung systems. Since the panels only come part way down the wall, the system cannot accommodate shelves or drawers closer to the floor. This also limits some popular design features such as the addition of base molding.
Floor based storage systems allow for deeper panels, because the weight rests on the floor creating more stability. Floor based systems can be designed with deeper panels, larger drawers, full-size doors and can provide for backing. Many people feel floor-based systems create a more custom built in look.
Wall hung systems should be less money because they use less material. The vertical pieces called panels in wall-hung systems are usually 48” high and limited to 14” in depth due to the overall weight of the system and the pull of gravity. However, well-made wall-hung systems are around the same price as our systems (even though they use half the material). If a wall-hung system is less money, it is usually made of a lesser quality product.
What do I need to do to prepare to meet with a designer? Should I clean my closet?
Surprisingly our answer is “No. Do not clean your closet before meeting with us.” Why? The best way for your Design Consultant to help you is to see how you use the space. Even if your closet is completely unorganized, it will lead us to help create a better design for you. We will be able to address all of your organization issues and give you solutions.
Why do you use particle board, and is it as strong as wood?
Particle board is a denser and more uniform alternative to solid wood. Used mainly for its strength and resistance to bowing, it has become the standard in the cabinet industry worldwide. As everyone has become more environmentally responsible, particle board moved to the forefront of what is preferred to use. There are many different grades of particle board. Closet Factory always uses the top grade, pine core, for the high quality and long lasting properties. Our goal is to give every client a closet that will endure for decades.
